When I spoke a few days ago on this topic, an image that seemed to grab people's attention was this bucket. The bucket is overflowing because of the incoming flow of water. I asked, 'Is this bucket's generosity to do with how wonderful the bucket is, or something else?'

What is our problem!? Why do we dislike talking about money so much? Of all the talks we do in church, the one on money is one that most regularly touches a nerve! It has been said, 'If you want to start an argument in Christian circles, bring up tithing!'
In our regular habit of taking a financial offering when we meet as church, whoever is at the front prays for the financial well-being of all of us and the city. We say thank you for the offering and then pray for everything else other than the church. Lets also be praying for the churchs financial situation that matters just as much!
In my various roles as a leader and manager within our extended family of churches, charities and networks, at this time of year I find myself with an overload of budgets to manage and approve! It's just that time of year!
