STEP leadership training

STEP is our first level leadership development course, serving our Salt & Light Advance family of churches, of which Oxford Community Church (course hosts) is part.

Over just 2 months, a rhythm of discipleship groups and training sessions will help you step into the call of God to lead as a Christian at work, in the community, at college, or in the church. It's great for people exploring what it means to lead, as well as more mature leaders who have moved into one our Advance churches.

The course includes understanding the call to godly leadership, learning to lead ourselves, getting passionate about Jesus, learning to read the Bible well, missional living, discipleship, and leading with vision - and lots more!

STEP runs over 4 Saturday mornings in the autumn each year. Between each session there will be short reading, study or other activities to do in your own time. 2023-24 dates are:

  • Modules 1 and 2: Sat 7 Oct 2023, 9.30am-12.30pm
  • Modules 3 and 4: Sat 28 Oct 2023, 9.30am-12.30pm
  • Modules 5 and 6: Sat 18 Nov 2023, 9.30am-12.30pm
  • Modules 7 and 8: Sat 2 Dec 2023, 9.30am-12.30pm

(For this course all sessions are in person, at The King's Centre)

STEP is for

  • anyone who is willing to grow in leadership and
  • willing to be personally mentored (if you don't already have a mentor we will help you find one) and
  • part of a church Community Group (small group)

If you've not yet completed your church membership course (a simple journey to help you understand our 'church DNA' / vision and values) we like you to do this before or soon after starting STEP and can help you arrange this.

If you're a very new Christian, it's probably more appropriate to complete another one of our courses first - do ask us.

STEP is currently led by Andy O'Connell (Assistant Pastor, training) and Mark Eley (Pastor, Lifehouse Community Church), with Nick White (King's Church Didcot).
