The prophet Jeremiah famously called God’s people to “seek the peace (shalom) of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf.” We want to continue in that calling today, led and energised by the Spirit of Jesus, the Prince of Peace
The Covid-19 pandemic uncovered and exacerbated many deep needs in society, and in our city: loneliness, isolation, inequality, and food poverty, to name a few. As churches and followers of Jesus, we have a role to play in serving and caring for our city. We need to ask: "how can we be good news for Oxford?"
Renew Oxford is an initiative started by Oxford Community Church, in partnership with Love Oxford Churches.
Our first event took place in June 2022, hosting talks, seminars, prayer and networking. Since then, we have hosted numerous events focused on the renewal of the city, and on specific areas of our city, including education, health and social care, responding to homelessness.
We have also pioneered the launch of Safe Families (Oxford), an initiative to serve some of the most vulnerable families in our city.
