Everything healthy is part of something bigger!
Everything healthy is part of something bigger! That's a deep longstanding conviction for our family of churches – it's why we are in fact a family of churches – and it helps us understand the point of conferences. Mark and I had this conversation recently with our apprentices, and we thought it was worth sharing more widely.
Before we talk about conferences specifically, 'everything healthy is part of something bigger' is about more than conferences:
On 14th May, we will be having a joint service in the afternoon with Lifehouse Community Church, one of our sister churches in Salt & Light Advance.
We are excited to have JB Masinde speaking to us. JB leads Deliverance Church Umoja, Nairobi Kenya, and is one of the spiritual fathers from our international Salt & Light family of churches, and a great preacher!
Mark Eley and Ruth O'Connell lead the meeting, with worship led by Hannah Robertshaw and Elizabeth Clayton.
Please arrive for refreshments from 2.15pm. If you are driving, please park at St Edburg's School, Pioneer Way, Bicester OX26 1BF.
Not livestreamed: We will record the service and upload it on the following Monday.
The week, we joined Lifehouse Community Church at their Bicester site.
Oxford Community Church and Lifehouse Community Church came together to celebrate what God is doing across central and northern Oxfordshire, to strengthen our relationships as churches working closely together, and to pray into all that God is doing.
We enjoyed an extended time of worship and ministry, hearing from Liam Thatcher, formerly teaching pastor of Christchurch London, and now a member of Oxford Community Church. Worship led by Rich Houghton (Lifehouse) and a joint band.
The service was hosted by Steve and Bev Jones (OCC) and Mark Eley (Lifehouse).
Join us for our Regional Celebration where we join with our family of churches and worship together. Steve Thomas will speak to us about mission and Mark and Katherine from Lifehouse Community Church lead the meeting.
We're really excited about our first joint meeting of Oxford Community Church and Lifehouse Community Church since Covid! God has been refreshing our relationship, through the Lifehouse Big Conversation, and has been speaking to several people about moving to be part of what he is doing in Bicester and Banbury.
At our 'Regional Celebration' on Sunday 11 July we will celebrate all that God is doing in our renewed relationship, pray together and commission new people to the leadership God is calling them to.
Steve Jones speaks, with Ruth O'Connell, Andy O'Connell and Mark Eley leading the meeting, and Emmanuel and Elizabeth Omuderiaye leading us in worship.
A new day, a new start, a new space
It was a big day in the life of Lifehouse Community Church in the afternoon of Sunday 25th April 2021. After not meeting in person for over a year during the pandemic we met together again for our first Sunday gathering. It felt a bit like going on holiday crossed with Christmas Day! For Katherine and I and our family there was a level of excitement and nervousness - constantly checking the clock to see if it was time to get in the car yet! There was a growing excitement and an expectation of what was to come.

Safeguarding training
We have updated our safeguarding policy and training materials, and we need to refresh your training in this important area, to ensure that we improve our care even further for the children entrusted to us. Because the safeguarding policy has changed significantly, we are re-training everyone involved in these areas, even if they were trained relatively recently.
