Gift Days

Oxford Community Church is a generous community. Over 40 years, we have seen churches planted in the UK and beyond, dozens of nations reached, two schools established, several ministries started, and many people saved, healed, delivered, and baptised.

We are a community funded by the generosity of our people. To all who give generously to the life and ministry of OCC – thank you!

Gift Days

As part of our generosity, we have been in the habit of holding Gift Days each year. These are an opportunity to get into faith for what God can do among us, and to express that faith through financial generosity. These Gift Days prompt us to renew our trust in God, and we have enjoyed seeing how he provides when we trust Him to do more than all we ask or imagine (Eph 3:20).

Marking a Change

In the past, we have managed our budget in a particular way, holding Gift Days to make up a ‘faith gap’ in our budget. While this approach has given us clear focus together in our giving (and many times seeing God meet the need exactly!), it has also caused us to focus on filling the gap, rather than trusting God for increase.

God has been speaking about growth, so as an act of faith and trust, we need to change our approach. So, from this year, we are committing to a new mode of Gift Days.

Since our beginnings, we have enjoyed giving to many expansion, development, or growth activities. This includes generosity towards other churches in our family (Sphere), other ministries, missions around the world, and much more.

From 2025, we are moving towards funding regular church activities from regular church income, or tithes, and expansion and growth activities from ‘over and above’ giving, or offerings.

We are starting a growth fund, kickstarted through our Gift Days, focused on 1) local church expansion, 2) ministering to the hurting, 3) global mission, and 4) future leaders. We have learnt from River Valley Church, a church who are exemplary in generosity, stewardship, and financial accountability, and we are excited to see what God does as we respond in faith to how he has spoken.

2025 Gift Days

This year, we will be receiving our offerings over three weeks: 16, 23, and 30 March. We are trusting God to provide at least £50,000 to be deployed into these areas of expansion and development.

We love that we are a generous church and are grateful that many of us give faithfully and regularly. We want to be a community that continues to grow in generosity. Come with us on the journey.

How to Respond

We invite you to pray, to consider your part in generous giving to the extension of God’s Kingdom, in and through Oxford Community Church.

  • For some, this will mean giving your first financial gift.
  • For others, this will mean starting to give regularly or tithing 10% of your income to the church.
  • For many, this will mean a one-off gift ‘over-and-above’ your regular tithe.

Join us in praying that God would continue to move among us, and lead us deeper into radical generosity.

If you have questions about the biblical practice of tithing, you may find it helpful to listen to a 4-minute clip from a recent sermon by Liam Thatcher.

How to Give

For some, as we pray God may prompt us to give regularly to the church for the first time. For others, it might mean increasing your regular giving. For many, it will be a one-off gift over-and-above your regular tithe.

We will be taking offerings in our Sunday services on 16, 23 and 30 March, if you would like to give in person, or make a pledge. But since many of us give online, you are welcome to do so at any point over the coming weeks. The main ways to do so are:

Bank Transfer

This is our preferred way of receiving offerings, since other methods result in the service provider taking a small percentage as processing fees.

You can give via your online banking to:

Oxford Community Church Account: 70679976 Sort Code 20-97-48

Please include as your reference GiftDay25 to help us correctly identify your offering.

ChurchSuite

Should you wish to give by card via ChurchSuite, you can do so through the module below. Please note, ChurchSuite takes a small percentage as processing fees, so bank transfer would be preferable. And if you are a UK taxpayer, ticking the Gift Aid option allows us to claim back 25% on top of your gift, at no cost to you.
