An update after the 'lockdown' announcement from the government last night (Mon 23 March)!
Firstly, we're very grateful for the team we have in OCC - volunteers and staff - such that we've been able to respond to two massive changes of government policy over the last 8 days.
Within 4 days of the first announcement on Monday 16 March we were ready to stream a service from The King's Centre, which we think we very well. We had 200-250 people watching from many different parts of UK and beyond - OCC regulars (including students who'd gone home), old friends and others. All the feedback so far has been really positive.
And then the 'lockdown' announcement on Monday 23 March has led us to revise our plans again. (That's going to be the nature of things for the coming months, I suspect.) We've spent this morning testing another approach*, so that we can continue our Streamed Sundays, while aiming not to use The King's Centre.
Sunday streaming will be available each week from this new link: oxford.occ.org.uk/sundays
Of course, it's not all about Sundays, and so our Focus Teams, Community leaders, and office staff have been rethinking *everything* - pastoral care, prayer, worship, training, administration and lots more - so that we can continue to support the church to be the people God calls us to be - his ambassadors, playing our part in seeing his Kingdom purpose extended on earth. More on that this coming Sunday!
(*For the techies among you, we're going to run a Zoom webinar into Facebook Live, and then embed on our website.)
