Health and Social Care

We have sponsored two Love Oxford inter-church events - in 2018 and 2019 - for Christians working in health and social care - a major employment sector in the city. Each event gathered around 100 people, from professions across the sector, and sought to bring hope, equipping and faith to those working in an often challenging environment. There were talks from leaders in the sector, and stories of believers making a real difference, as well as time for networking, for practical workshops and for prayer.

Over the two years keynote speakers included:

  • Dr Andrew Murray: Chair of Merton Clinical Commissioning Group
  • Sir Andrew Dilnot: Expert in the funding of social care
  • Dr Katie Hilder MRCS: Leader of the Bethel / Global Legacy Healthcare Network
  • David Simmons: Cinnamon Network UK and author of a major report on the role of churches in delivering health and social care: www.cinnamonnetwork.co.uk/churchhealthcare
  • Helen Wordsworth: Parish Nursing, www.cinnamonnetwork.co.uk/project/parish-nursing
  • Martin Cunnington: social worker, operational manager and NHS commissioner
  • John Drew: then Director of Improvement and Culture at OUH, and Associate Fellow at Green Templeton College in Oxford

There are currently no plans for future events. However, to keep informed about any developments, like the event Facebook page at www.engageoxford.co.uk
