There's a wave to catch (poem)

By Caroline McNicoll

There’s a wave to catch. Are you ready and waiting?

Are you sitting, in your wet suit, positioned, bobbing down on the waves?

Eyes fixed on the horizon.

Ignoring the ripples, the smaller ones.

Even the ones which look fairly promising

Eyes fixed. Waiting patiently.

Weathering the wind, the rain, the cold.

Eyes fixed on the horizon.

When it comes, you’ll be there, won’t  you?

You’ll see the beginnings whilst it’s still far off, poised and ready.

Your patience paying off, you’re ready to ride it.

There’s a wave for you to catch.

Are you ready and waiting?

The wave is coming.
